High School

In 2006, Clear Spring School launched a new block schedule for upper middle school and high school students. Offering single courses for 2-4 week blocks allows students to deeply explore and integrate advanced math, history, economics, the natural sciences, literature and composition, Spanish language, and more. Students are also able to select electives such as film studies, test taking, band, and computer graphics.

Research shows that block scheduling allows teachers to engage students in experiments, writing and other forms of active learning instead of merely lecturing to students or trying to squeeze important projects into short class periods.

In addition to their studies, all Clear Spring High School students complete at least 20 hours of community service each year. Students choose their own activities and are responsible for reporting their hours to the school office.
