Internships
Unlike traditional internships that train students
for specific jobs, the purpose of Clear spring School’s internship program
is to give students the opportunity to work closely with an adult mentor
whose interests are similar to their own. They allow students to do meaningful
work with real-world consequences.
Students have participated in internships
such as organic farming with Elixir Farm in Missouri, participating in
Jack Black’s theater workshop in Los Angeles, and interning with the
Literacy Council in Buffalo, New York. Through our internship program,
one student received his pilot license at age 17, and continued an internship
to take him to the next level to become a professional pilot. Another
student learned the ropes of working at a wildlife refuge building habitats
for big cats.
